Theresa and Seth Mersky of Toronto, Canada provided the overall support to initiate Village Community Schools. The Merskys have had a life-long interest in starting an educational project in India.
Barbara Goodwin Zeibots was formerly Head of the York School in Toronto. After graduating with a degree in Political Science and Economics from Trinity College, University of Toronto, Barbara spent five years in London England where she taught for the London County Council. In 1965, on returning to Canada, she was the founding teacher at the York School and led the school until she retired in 2006. By that time, York had become the first school in Canada to have all three IB programmes. In addition to volunteering her time, at Global Pathways School for five months each year, Barbara sits on the Access and Development Governance Committee of the IBO, is on the Selection Committee for Pearson College, a United World College and been trained as a site visitor for the IB.
Barbara Galbraith taught at The York School, Toronto, an International Baccalaureate World School, for 26 years. During her time at York, she became the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Coordinator and Head of the Junior School. She is an IB PYP teacher trainer and site visitor and has facilitated teacher workshops in North America and India. Barbara Galbraith retired from The York School in 2005 and became one of the Directors of Global Pathways School in 2008.
Sunbeam Viswanathan of Podanur, Tamilnadu with 30 years of administrative experience, is the Coordinator of Community Life.
Jim Brickell, the first GPS Head of School started June 2015. Mr. Brickell comes to the school with extensive teaching experience having taught in 5 countries (Australia, Canada, Colombia, India and Hong Kong). He is an IB workshop leader and site visitor.
